You might have played competition even with your friends who will have the stone for maximum bounces. The science that lies behind this trick is amazing.

If you want the stone to bounce the water for several times you have to project it at an angle of 20 degree. This angle of projection will make your stone bounce for several times. A Utah researcher has investigated how things and substance skips on water. The flatter the angle should be made, heavier the object is. It is also practised in military on throwing cannon balls and bullets.

Reseachers described about the combined complicated physics behind the mechanism of skipping a stone in the water. Hope the next time you skip a stone you can beat all your friends. Good Luck !

Media in the south is any way less tolerant to Bollywood stars and th e news that apparently Shahrukh and his team were doing an exclusive only added fuel to the fire.

The press left the event and later ion the confusion of the timing was blamed on the miscommunication of the p r teams of the local fashion show event, and the promotions of Happy New year with the entire team.

Shahrukh apparently even tried to woo the rest of the media that was going to walk out by promising to give all of them exclusive time but they still refused as per reports in the media.

Recently Salman Khan also had a tiff with the media when his bodyguards had manhandled photographers after which they banned Salman Khan , and the ban still continues. This happened at the event of Kick .

CDC assures Ebola under control even as stricken man's relatives quarantined, home awaits scrubdown

7:06 AM |
CDC assures Ebola under control even as stricken man's relatives quarantined, home awaits scrubdown.
Federal health officials rushed to assure a frightened public that Ebola does not pose a serious threat in the U.S., even as the first - and so far only - case of a diagnosis on American soil exposed potential flaws in border screening, diagnosis, treatment and even disposal of contaminated items.

As Ebola patient Thomas Eric Duncan, who showed symptoms of the often fatal disease shortly after arriving from Sierra Leone, was being treated in isolation at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, relatives in Dallas who he'd stayed with resisted a quarantine and there were reports that cleanup specialists were balking at disinfecting their home.

Still, Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said he is confident Ebola can be contained in the U.S., unlike in Africa where it has killed more than 3,300 since the current outbreak began late last year.

“I have no doubt we will control this case of Ebola so that it does not spread widely,” Frieden said.

But Frieden's assurances came amid calls for better screening of U.S.-bound passengers from Ebola-affected nations and word that Duncan's initial triage was bungled at the hospital.

At a Dallas apartment where Duncan stayed after arriving Sept. 20, family members were legally quarantined Thursday after refusing to comply with Dallas health officials requests that they stay home. Doctors are taking the temperatures of four family members in the unit where Duncan was staying twice a day to monitor symptoms as part of the health surveillance efforts being led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local Dallas government.

“If people leave, even though they’re asymptomatic, if they’re not at home when we go out to do our surveillance test on them, then that defeats the purpose of that surveillance test and that endangers them … if they were to be infected, they need to know that as quickly as possible,” said Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins. “So it’s for their benefit and everyone else’s.”

Texas health officials said during a press conference Thursday that the family would be quarantined in their apartment unit for the next 20 days until the potential incubation period for Ebola is over.

Meanwhile, health officials in Dallas acknowledged that Duncan’s clothing and bedding were still in plastic bags and had not been removed, The Dallas Morning News reports. Officials were seemingly unsure how to delegate the removal of contaminated items from the apartment.

Asked why Duncan's items and clothing were still at the location, the county's Health and Human Services director responded that it wasn't his agency's responsibility.

The items will soon be "appropriately disposed of," a county judge said.

Health officials widened their search Thursday to 100 individuals possibly exposed to the disease — tracing contacts of the patient and medical staff who initially treated him. Also on Thursday, officials said three more young children potentially had contact with Duncan, bringing the number of kids being monitored to eight.
Daigle expressed concern about infection control at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital, where Duncan is currently in isolation, and said that a team was dispatched to conduct the same kind of contact tracing officials are doing in the local community.
“We’re going to break that risk down to high-risk, no-risk and low-risk, and that’s going to be the basis of our contact tracing,” said David Daigle, associate director for communications, public health preparedness and response at the CDC.

Zachary Thompson, director of Dallas County Health and Human Services, tried to quell fears in the community of the virus spreading and stressed transparency during the investigation.

“A lot of the individuals that we come in contact with will not have any symptoms, they will not have any association other than the fact that someone said they were there, or they might have had contact,” Thompson said. “This is local public health surveillance at its best, in what we do day in and day out.”

Police were stationed at the Ivy Apartment complex where the family lives Thursday to keep the peace and assist residents and health officials in the community during the investigation.

“We want to make sure we create a calm and safe environment for [health officials] to do their work — that’s our primary focus.  We have had reverse 911 calls to all the residents … We’ve talked to them, we’ve explained what happened, and we’ve given them the option to call us back,” said Dallas city mayor, Mike Rawlings. ”If citizens have any questions, they need to call 311. We will be able to give them a full explanation of what’s happening and answer any questions that are challenging.”

Additional nurses and health professionals were called into schools where the five students that were potentially exposed to Ebola attended.

“Our nurses are making two rounds every school day to every classroom just to check to see if anyone has questions or if there are any symptoms,” said  Mike Miles, superintendent of Dallas Independent School District, adding that additional custodial staff was on hand to clean and disinfect the buildings the students attended. Miles stressed the fact that the potential for contamination in the schools was minimal, but said they were doing extra cleaning to take the possibility off the table.

The eight students in the potential contacts were enrolled in a homebound program where they will receive curricular and technology support to complete their coursework while they are out of school. Attendance at the five schools involved in the investigation was down 10 percent Thursday, but Miles said he expects it to go back up.

Sally Nuran, manager of the Ivy Apartments where Duncan was visiting family, said during a press conference Thursday that health officials alerted her of the Ebola case on her property late Monday night. She confirmed that the lease for that particular unit lists one adult and two children, but said she does not know how many people are currently occupying the space.
The complex is home to residents of many different nationalities and translators have been on hand to distribute information in at least eight different languages, according to Nuran, who said she’s working with the CDC and other government agencies to educate residents about the current situation.

As part of the monitoring process, the CDC has quarantined the family inside the unit, with strict instructions not to leave the apartment or even step out on the porch, according to Nuran. The family was set to move out of the apartment when their lease expired on September 30.

Fliers were placed on residents’ doors in the apartment complex Wednesday night and more translated fliers will be handed out during a community meeting Thursday, according to Nuran, who said language barriers have made it difficult to disseminate information. All common areas have been disinfected by the CDC, she said.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Nepali Movie – Sathi Ma Timro
Starring – Bhuwan KC, Rekha Thapa, Kamal Krishna, Richa Ghimire, Shirshak Sapkota, Anmol KC etc.
Director – Shiva Regmi
The movie produced by Kajal Films is one more movie produced by popular movie actor Bhuwann KC. The actor added an extra ‘n’ in his name on the suggestion of an astrologer. We posted Bhuwan’s interview at the tome of the release of the movie (in February of 2012).

Although our review of ‘Sathi Ma Timro’ was positive in nature, the movie wasn’t that successful in theater and changing names wasn’t as helpful as expected.

The movie also marks the entry of Anmol KC, Bhuwan’s son in Nepali movie industry. Although Anmol is only featured in one song and he doesn’t have an opportunity to show his acting talent, young girls had been fan of the new actor in the industry. Anmol proved his acting capacity in his next movie ‘Hostel’ and became successful in winning some awards for his role. In this movie, the role played by child artist Shirshak Sapkota was appreciated by most of the viewers.

Prefer soup to meat, water to alcohol, doctors suggest: World Heart Day

4:34 PM |
On the occasion of World Heart Day on Saturday, September 27, doctors have suggested people to prefer soup to meat and water to alcohol to maintain a healthy living.

According to the World Health Organization, more than 7.3

Given the staggering rise on the cases of heart disease worldwide, the World Health Federation has been organizing the World Health Day on September 28 with an objective to raise awareness among people.

In Nepal, Norvic International Hospital (NIH), today organized an awareness program on its premises after organizing various programs under a week-long celebration.

Urging people to care for their heart, the cardiologists, at the program, suggested all to prefer soup to meat and water to alcohol considering the comparatively high consumption of the meat and sweet dishes during the festivals as Dashain and Tihar.

The heart disease is on rise globally due to the high consumption of tobacco, alcohol, high blood pressure, obesity and sedentary lifestyles among others.

Cardiologist Dr. Bharat Rawat stressed on the consumption of green vegetables and fruits than of the meat products to keep heart disease away.

"Since heart disease arise from the lack of physical activity and plain dishes, it is imperative to change our dietary habit," Rawat explained.

Shedding light on the importance of healthy eating habit and exercise, former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa, a special guest at the event, said that he gained his health despite the heart ailment after he followed the doctors' suggestions.

The octogenarian said, "In order to keep our heart intact, we ought to focus on green vegetables and fruits than on meat and alcohol."The theme for this year's Heart Day is- 'Heart Choices Not Hard Choices'.

Adhikari Death Highlights Injustice

4:20 PM |
Nand Prasad Adhikari and Gangmaya Adhikari
The government of Nepal has failed for over a decade to deliver justice for the killing of Krishna Prasad Adhikari. In protest his father, Nanda Prasad Adhikari, died on September 22, 2014, after over 300 days on hunger strike, the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) and Human Rights Watch said today.

Nanda Prasad Adhikari and his wife, Ganga Maya Adhikari, began their hunger strike on October 23, 2013, to protest the failure of successive Nepali governments to ensure a credible investigation of the killing in 2004 of their son, allegedly by members of the United Communist Party of Nepal–Maoists .

The ICJ and Human Rights Watch called on the Nepali government to protect the human rights of Ganga Maya Adhikari, who is reported to be in critical but stable condition in Kathmandu’s Bir Hospital. She continues to refuse food even after her husband’s death.

“Nanda Prasad Adhikari made the ultimate sacrifice in the pursuit of justice for his son, but it should never have come to this sad moment,” said Sam Zarifi, regional director for Asia and the Pacific at ICJ. “The Adhikari couple symbolizes the thousands of people in Nepal who demand justice for the violations and abuses they suffered at the hands of the government’s armed forces as well as the Maoists.”

Despite several promises by the government, there has been little movement towards accountability for Krishna Adhikari’s death. In September 2013, after initial protests by the Adhikari couple, Nepali authorities announced that they would follow the Supreme Court’s directive to investigate the killing.

One year later, in April 2014, the Chitwan District Attorney filed charges against 13 people allegedly involved in the killing of Krishna Prasad Adhikari. But when two men were arrested and produced in court, UCPN-M leaders protested, with leader Babu Ram Bhattarai saying publicly that if Parsuram Poudel, one of the accused, could be arrested, the government should arrest Bhattarai as well. After three days of protests and threats by the UCPN-M, the Chitwan District Court granted bail to the two suspects. The case is still pending in court.

Throughout this period, the Adhikaris continued their hunger strike, pointing out serious flaws and shortcomings in the investigation carried out by Nepali authorities.

The Comprehensive Peace Accord (CPA) that ended the conflict in 2006 explicitly recognizes Nepal’s obligations under international human rights law without reservation. The CPA is unequivocal about the need to investigate and prosecute human rights violations in line with Nepal’s laws. A promised Truth and Reconciliation Commission remains stalled, and the draft legislation to promulgate it is deeply flawed.

“Nepali politicians should stop making empty promises and investigate all allegations of human rights abuses and violations during the conflict,” said Brad Adams, Asia director. “Nanda Prasad Adhikari’s death highlights Nepal’s flawed attempts at reconciliation and redress for conflict-era crimes, and looks like a desire to sweep all wartime injustice under the rug.”

The ICJ and Human Rights Watch called on Nepali authorities to continue investigations and prosecutions for Krishna Adhikari’s death, as well as hundreds of unresolved cases of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial executions.

The films that we original featured, that have since been delayed to 2015...

9:13 AM |
 Tomorrowland

Speculation over the nature of this Brad Bird picture has been raging for quite a while. Once going under the working title 1952, the project was once rumoured to be a Star Wars sequel, a Buck Rogers remake, or maybe an adaptation of an EE 'Doc' Smith novel.
Those theories have been largely dispelled since, but even now, we're not entirely sure what Tomorrowland's about. We know it shares a name with Disney's famous theme land, and we know that George Clooney will star as an inventor, Hugh Laurie will play the villain, and Britt Robertson will play the heroine - but that's about it.

There's a curious air of secrecy surrounding the film, but that's merely fuelled our interest. Brad Bird is, after all, the director behind such films as The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and 2011's hugely successful Misson: Impossible - Ghost Protocol. His presence alone makes this enigmatic science fiction project worth looking forward to.
The Secret Service
The last time Matthew Vaughn and Mark Millar got together, we ended up with the original Kick-Ass. Vaughn turned down the chance to make another X-Men film (following X-Men: First Class) to helm The Secret Service instead, and the film currently sits on the schedules for November 2014.
There's an essence of a junior James Bond to the film, as it follows an experienced secret agent who takes on a young apprentice. Colin Firth plays the former, with Taron Egerton tackling the role of the latter. And the cast is rounded out by the likes of Michael Caine and Samuel L Jackson. Furthermore, there are rumours of cameos from names such as David Beckham, Elton John, Adele and Lady Gaga. They've not been confirmed, though.

This does look an interesting project, whether they're included or not. As with Kick-Ass, Millar and Vaughn are keeping the budget low and the level of creative control high. It worked well for them last time, and there are plenty of reasons why it should all work well this time around too.

Frankenstein

Mary Shelley's classic novel has been told and retold many times on the big screen, from James Whale's 1931 classic starring Boris Karloff, to the 2007 British TV version, which cast Helen McCrory as geneticist Dr Victoria Frankenstein. 2014 will add a further two retellings of The Modern Prometheus to that list: the action fantasy I, Frankenstein, starring Aaron Eckhart, and Frankenstein, penned by Chronicle screenwriter Max Landis.
The latter's the one we're most looking forward to, partly because we were so impressed by Chronicle, but also because his description of what he's written sounds so strange. Landis' version of Frankenstein, as well as being based on Shelley's text, is also inspired by the story that has shifted and altered over the course of its retelling. In an interview with Aint It Cool, Landis rightly pointed out that the character Igor, for example, didn't even appear in the original novel, and only showed up in later Universal sequel - as played by Bela Lugosi.

Landis' adaptation, then, will itself be a kind of Frankenstein's creation, with bits of half-remembered story pieced together to create something different. Daniel Radcliffe is set to play Igor, James McAvoy's cast as Victor Von Frankenstein, and Jessica Brown Findlay will play a character named Lorelei. The film will, Landis says, be about "friendship and science, genius and madness, love and ambition, life and death."
Mad Max: Fury Road

Poor George Miller. Not only has the director's fourth Mad Max film spent more than two decades in development hell, it's also faced all kinds of hardships since it finally went into production a few years ago, from rain storms forcing a shift in locations, and budget overruns to some early 2013 reshoots.
Thankfully, there are signs that the Mad Max: Fury Road saga will have a happy ending, with anonymous sources stating that Miller's related sequel is actually very good - it's even said that Warner Bros were so happy with what they saw, they even gave Miller some extra money to go back and shoot some extra scenes to beef up one of Fury Road's major action set pieces.

The presence of Tom Hardy in the lead role also gives us hope, as does Miller's persistence in getting his sequel made: Mad Max 2 was a classic film, and with Fury Road picking up straight after the events of that film, we're hoping the belated follow-up will recapture some of its brilliance.
